Chapter 5 Explanation of the prescriptions of Anyu’s miraculous medicine series
                  Ling Zhi Ge Dan No. 2 (Belch-relieving pellet No. 2)
[Main components]
Root of Ginseng (radix Panax ginseng), fruit of medicinal evodia (fructus Evodia rutaecarpa), flower of British inula (flos Inula Britannica), and others (processed from pure traditional Chinese medicine, none of western medicine is included).
[Efficacy] Replenish Qi to harmonize stomach, relieve belch and lower rebellious Qi.
[Indications] Frequent and ceaseless belch due to weakness of spleen and stomach.
[Explanation of the prescription] Zhubingyuanhoulun Ouyuebingzhuhou stated that: “Because of the weakness of both spleen and stomach┈┈new food in stomach will not be appropriately transformed and cereal nutrient will interfere with new food, causing the adverse flow of gastric Qi.” In this prescription, drugs for replenishing Qi and harmonizing stomach are chosen as the “monarch”; drugs for relieving belch and lowering rebellious Qi are chosen as the “minister”. Such composition may function together to invigorate middle energizer, harmonize stomach and relieve belch.
[Precaution] (1) Tea drinking is forbidden 15 min. before and 30 min. after medication. (2) Patients with other diseases including common cold, fever, cough, diarrhea due to acute gastroenteritis, as well as with excessive internal heat symptoms such as toothache and sore-throat are not suitable to take this preparation simultaneously.
      Ling Jie Jiu Dan No. 2 (Alcoholism-relieving pellet No. 2)
[Main components]
Root of lobed kudzuvine (radix Pueraria lobata), fruit of white mulberry (fructus Morus spp.), seed of sickle senna (semen Cassia tora), and others (processed from pure traditional Chinese medicine, none of western medicine is included).
[Efficacy] Invigorate blood, nourish liver and relieve alcoholism.
[Indications] Those who usually drink much, over-drink or frequently drink that surpasses their capability of alcohol metabolism.
[Explanation of the prescription] In this prescription, drugs for invigorating blood and nourishing liver are chosen as the “monarch”; drugs for clearing liver and relieving alcoholism are chosen as the “minister”. Such composition may nourish and protect liver, promote the dredging function of liver, enhance the capability of liver to decompose and clear alcohol, and decrease body impairment caused by harmful substance in alcoholic drinks.
[Precaution] (1) Tea drinking is forbidden 15 min. before and 30 min. after medication. (2) Patients with other diseases including common cold, fever, cough, diarrhea due to acute gastroenteritis, as well as with excessive internal heat symptoms such as toothache and sore-throat are not suitable to take this preparation simultaneously.
           Ling Tang Bian Dan No. 2 (Loose stool-relieving pellet No. 2)
[Main components]
Root of Ginseng (radix Panax ginseng), rhizome of largehead atradtylodes (rhizoma Atractylodes macrocephala), India bread (Poria coccus), and other warming and reinforcing Chinese medicine (processed from pure Chinese drugs, none of western medicine is included).
[Efficacy] Invigorate spleen, supplement Qi, regulate stomach and eliminate dampness.
[Indications] Long-lasting sloppy diarrhea caused by superabundance of dampness due to spleen-asthenia.
[Explanation of the prescription] Huangdineijing Suwen Yinyangyingxiangdalun indicated that “Heavy dampness leading to diarrhea.” Asthenic spleen and stomach fails to transport and transform and leads to indigestion, and thus causing sloppy diarrhea. In this prescription, drugs for supplementing Qi and invigorating spleen are chosen as the “monarch”; drugs for regulating stomach, eliminating dampness and stopping diarrhea are chosen as the “minister”. Such composition may strengthen asthenia, eliminate dampness, relieve stagnation, regulate Qi, and harmonize spleen and stomach, so as to cure the illness.
[Curative effect] The curative effect may generally be felt 2-5 days, and symptoms may disappear about 15 days after medication. Recovery can be achieved after consolidation.
