Ling Zeng Pang Dan No. 3 (Weight growth-promoting pellet No. 3)
[Main components] Root of Ginseng (radix Panax ginseng), fruit of malaytea scurfpea (fructus Psoralea corylifolia), fruit of villous amomum (fructus Amomum xanthioides), and others (processed from pure traditional Chinese medicine, none of western medicine is included).
[Efficacy] Invigorate spleen, replenish kidney, regulate and nourish stomach.
[Indications] Emaciation due to weakness and indigestion.
[Explanation of the prescription] In this prescription, drugs for invigorating spleen and replenishing kidney are chosen as the “monarch” to reinforce congenital and postnatal base of life; drugs for regulating and nourishing stomach are chosen as the “minister” to enhance the digestion and absorption of nutrients. Such composition may function together to strengthen the constitution, regulate the functions of transportation and transformation and thus rectify the status of emaciation.
[Curative effect] In general, body weight may increase 1-1.5 kg per month.
[Precaution] (1) Tea drinking is forbidden 15 min. before and 30 min. after medication. [Explanation of the prescription] Jingyuequanshu Xuanyun pointed out that: “Dizziness is mainly due to insufficiency.” The insufficiency of Qi and blood will cause the exhaustion of nutrient in brain and induce dizziness, which is easily aggravated by motion or breaks out by overstrain. Therefore, in this prescription, drugs for invigorate Qi and blood are chosen as the “monarch”; drugs for strengthening spleen and stomach are chosen as the “minister”. Such composition not only may replenish Qi and nourish blood, reinforce the source of generation and transformation, but also may invigorate blood and nourish heart and brain.
[Curative effect] The curative effect may generally be felt 2-20 hours, and symptoms may disappear 5-15 days after medication. Recovery can be achieved after consolidation.

[Explanation of the prescription] Jingyuequanshu Twenty seventh Erzheng documented that: “Tinnitus usually occurs in people after middle ages, which will cause the emergence of sounds somewhat like wind and rain, chirping of cicadas, or tide. It is owing to the asthenia of Yin and kidney.” Kidney opens into ears, liver and kidney are of the same origin; therefore, the insufficiency of liver and kidney will cause tinnitus. In this prescription, drugs for tonifying Yin and supplementing kidney are chosen as the “monarch”; drugs for nourishing Yin and regulating liver are chosen as the “minister”. Such composition may function together to fill kidney essence and nourish liver Yin, so as to relive tinnitus.
