[Explanation of the prescription] Zhubingyuanhoulun Vol.1 Fengshibi Shengtishouzubusuihou indicated that: “Pathogenic wind-dampness is easier to impair the loosened interstitial space and struggle with blood and Qi, causing the stagnation of blood and Qi. The struggle between healthy Qi and pathogenic factors is located in muscles and initiates pain.” In this prescription, drugs for replenishing liver and kidney, invigorating healthy Qi, nourishing and regulating blood are chosen as the “monarch”; drugs for expelling wind and dampness, and relieving obstruction and pain are chosen as the “minister” to disperse pathogenic wing in Yin meridian, expel wind and dampness from tendon and muscles, and also may relieve pain. Such composition has given consideration to both healthy Qi and pathogenic factors, and thus can relieve both obstruction and pain.
